Best breakfast I have had in a long time. Great coffee. Recommend to book as it gets busy. Will be back here on our next visit from SA. Great customer service and food is to die for. Thank you all again.
Overview
If you're looking for a place where good food meets a cozy atmosphere in West Hobart, The Lansdowne Cafe should be at the top of your list. Located at 68 Lansdowne Crescent, this charming cafe is an unassuming gem that locals and visitors alike rave about. Whether you're stopping in for a casual breakfast, a laid-back lunch, or a satisfying dinner, there's something special about The Lansdowne that makes every meal a memorable experience.
The first thing that stands out about The Lansdowne Cafe is its warm, inviting vibe. The moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into a place where time slows down. The cafe’s interior is bright, with a rustic charm that mixes modern design elements with a cozy, homey feel. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, making it a perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy a quiet meal or even get some work done in a relaxed setting. Whether you're coming alone to sip on a coffee or with friends for a hearty meal, the ambiance here is always welcoming.
One of the reasons people return to The Lansdowne Cafe again and again is the menu, which offers a range of dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. For breakfast, the eggs benedict is a crowd favorite, with perfectly poached eggs, crispy bacon, and a rich hollandaise sauce that’s hard to beat. If you're after something a little more filling, the smashed avocado on sourdough with a side of feta and chili flakes is another winning choice. The balance of flavors is perfect and definitely worth trying.
When it comes to lunch, you can't go wrong with their signature sandwiches or salads. The Lansdowne chicken sandwich, filled with tender grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and their house-made aioli, hits all the right notes. If you're in the mood for something lighter, their seasonal salads are filled with fresh produce and paired with delicious dressings that elevate the dish. On a sunny day, you’ll want to grab a seat on the cafe’s outdoor terrace to enjoy your meal while soaking up the beautiful Hobart weather.
As for dinner, The Lansdowne doesn’t disappoint either. Their main courses include a range of options, from fresh seafood to delicious pastas and perfectly cooked steaks. The grilled Tasmanian salmon is particularly popular, with a crisp skin and moist, tender flesh. Paired with roasted vegetables or a fresh salad, it’s an ideal dish for those seeking a lighter yet flavorful dinner. For those craving something hearty, the beef burger with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and homemade sauce is a must-try. It’s the perfect balance of flavors, making it one of the most ordered dishes on the menu.
For dessert, you can’t leave without trying their chocolate mousse or the classic lemon meringue pie, both of which are beautifully crafted and a great way to end your meal. The Lansdowne takes its desserts seriously, and it shows in every bite. Pair it with a coffee from their specialty espresso menu, and you’ve got a perfect meal.
Aside from the food, what really sets The Lansdowne Cafe apart is the friendly and attentive staff. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, you’re always greeted with a smile. The team is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations based on your preferences, whether you're looking for something light or indulgent. They take great care in ensuring your dining experience is as enjoyable as possible.
While the food and service are top-notch, what makes The Lansdowne Cafe stand out even more is the sense of community. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a spot where people come together to enjoy great food and connect. The cafe is a favorite among locals, and it’s clear that the owners take pride in fostering a space that feels like a second home.

Jerry, Min, and staff were very welcoming and provided exceptional service. The meals come in generous portions and are delicious. They make the best coffee in Hobart. The baked eggs, eggs Benedict, and the pulled pork brisket were delicious. The plating was inviting, and the food not only looked appetising but tasted yummy. The portion sizes are generous. They have a new chef, and you can taste the love in the food. The teapots come in different colours, with aromatic tea leaves making a tasty brew. They were accommodating to our needs and made us feel special. We love going for brunch New to the menu are the scrumptious prawns and fried rice. Highly recommended!! And will definitely be back again!
This place serves some of the best food in Tasmania, combined with warm service, effortless booking, and a cosy atmosphere – an easy five-star choice for any foodie in Hobart.
The staff are very beautiful humans ! They take great care and pride in their service and business. The food is delicious and the coffee is incredible. The whole atmosphere of this business is calming and welcoming, highly recommend! Best chefs and best staff in all of the cafes of Australia ????????
A gourmet gem in West Hobart! We had a lovely brunch sitting under the heaters outside (lap blankets also provided) All three meals were delicious and great coffee/hot chocolate.
Our family went there on the last day of the year and the cafe was packed. Regardless of how busy they were, the service was fast, and the staff are very welcoming and attentive. They made an ordinary breakfast exceptional. Also, their special beetroot latte worth a try as well. The cafe itself is small yet cozy. We just love everything about them. Will definitely come back!
Visiting from out of town and happened to stumble across this great little cafe on google maps. The food, coffee and service were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for adding or changing some food options. Had the eggs benny twice, along with the piggy in the farm and banana bread (over 3 visits) and each dish was sensational. Parking was easy and coffee was on point as well If you’re visiting Hobart, then this little cafe is a must.
Amazing staff who are incredibly friendly and truly look after you. The food is unbelievably good, and the coffee is excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with the added charm of art pieces displayed like a gallery. You can even purchase some of the artwork! A wonderful spot for great food, coffee, and a touch of creativity.
